New Website…New Blog…

Video Production

Filming in NYC

Welcome to the new blog! I’ll pop some news up on here and use it to let people know what we’ve been filming and where we’ve been visiting. I’ll bring up any problems we’ve encountered and our work flows to deal with them. We’ll hopefully even get some clients to write us a guest blog every now and then about what it’s been like working with us! (Hopefully not too painful!)

So it’s been a busy last couple of years with a lot of travelling and some great filming opportunities for us. We’ve been filming in Hull, York, San Francisco, Munich, Hannover, New York, Atlanta, San Jose, London, Amsterdam, and not forgetting Fraisthorpe, and this year we’ve already started planning more video production.

Looks like we’ll be heading out to Munich and San Francisco again in the first few months of 2014, so look out for some photos and updates there.

We also have the new website launching, which brings with it this new blog! The website’s been done by a couple of friends that own getnoticedlocally.co.uk. I think they’ve done a great job and made the whole thing look far more professional and like we might just know what we’re doing. Anyway, check out their website if you’re looking for a new design and hosting.

With this new website I’ve also decided to make the switch from YouTube to Vimeo for the video embeds. I still think YouTube’s great, and the analytics are superior to that of Vimeo so I still keep the YT account and will still update it along with Vimeo (more work in compressor), but for the website I think the Vimeo interface is far more pleasing to look at.

I’m also gonna try to take more pictures whilst on my travels so I’ll get the Flikr page up and running too. And I’ve decided to put all the music we make with Nova Studios (novastudios.co.uk) up on a Soundcloud too.

I’ll try to keep dropping you tips of good companies we’ve engaged with and worked with. Although some of them will essentially be our competitors, I think it’s worth pointing out when someone is doing a great job, and the more good companies doing great films in Hull, the more film work will come to, and out of Hull, so it should benefit us all. I’m a great believer that if I think I can get a better product for our clients from working with another company, then I won’t hesitate. That way, everyone’s happy, and everyone feels like they’ve done and received a good job.

The picture above is a shot of the Highline in New York City. It’s a really great escape from the bustle of the city set on an old elevated railroad line running ‘on stilts’ between Gansevoort Street and West 34th Street. We did a couple of time-lapses there in a recent trip to film in NYC. Some amazing views, relaxing rest-stops, and pop-up stalls towards the end for refreshments. Check out the time-lapses along with plenty more in the Timelapse Showreel in the Portfolio page.

So check out the new website and the links, let us know what you think, and we’ll post again soon!
